We live Surf Break Cafe. The atmosphere is great, it's right next to the water and the food & drinks are awesome 🤗

It’s hard to find a place in Hilo that opens early so make this your morning spot! Food is delicious, people are chill, and coffee is great!

Good spot to get a coffee. Bright and spacious cafe with plenty of seating. Free wifi available for customers. Good prices for breakfast burritos, sandwiches, and paninis. The grilled burritos are delicious. They also have fresh fruit smoothies.

Good atmosphere to get work done!

An unassuming American style restaurant. Excellent salads (particularly with raspberry vinaigrette dressing) and wraps. Staff were very friendly and one young woman was interesting with international travels. Overall, not fancy, good value, great tasting.

The employees are so nice, the food was great and the place is decorated with awesome artwork :) free WiFi for customers, comfy seats for people doing work on laptops, etc.

I recommend the Machado smoothie! As well as their amazing breakfast burrito and wrap! 5 stars all the way around service was wonderful a must go place for a smoothie or breakfast! Very cozy

Ingot an oatmeal, a brownie and a cappuccino. They were ok but bit overpriced.Atmosphere is nice, couple of couches and several tables available.

Honestly did not mind this place but it was absolutely over priced. Cost almost $100 for a family to eat breakfast here. Food was okay but not great, iced coffee was decent, and it seemed fairly clean.

Laid back atmosphere and good different kinds of coffee with the possibility to have something to eat/snack. Didn't try the food. Service was nice at the front and place was half full with a mix of students on laptops and tourists having lunch. We've walked through Hilo for 20 minutes and this was one of the few coffee bars we saw and gave it a try. Definitely a place to check out if you want to go to a coffee bar.

Was so happy to find this place considering most of the eateries in town does not open until 11am. Breakfast was great and so were the staff. Took a walk around town before we caught our flight back home.

Kind of looked like a dive, and it was just about to close, but I needed a coffee. Just a medium drip, please. NOT disappointed at all. How is every cup of coffee in Hawaii so good?

Was on a search for a local coffee and good breakfast food. This place is over priced, and the coffee tasted burned. A grilled panini was literally scrambled eggs, tomatoes and peppers on sourdough bread from the store. This sandwhich was over $10, and our large drip coffee was $4. Two large coffees and a sandwhich I could have made at home for $21 dollars. Still left a tip because its not fje baristas fault. It was sad because we wanted local coffee and food and I could have gotton better food somewhere else for less money. This is a tourist trap because of its location.

Super chill vibe. Hung out for a few hours to do some laptop work and drink a cappuccino.

Cool little breakfast spot. The paninis are light but satisfying. Easygoing place, a few outdoor tables, can't complain.

Wonderful spot for breakfast in Hilo. Burritos are delicious and filling. Kick back, relax and enjoy the casual ambiance. Then get out and expire the awesomeness of East Hawaii.

They make their own chai, and it's the best I've found in Hilo. Friendly staff, too.

Good food and quick service

I really enjoyed my computer work time at Surf Break. The wifi connection is good compared to a lot of places I've stopped over at in Hawaii, and there is a selection of comfortable seating. I didn't order food though it looked delicious, and the coffee was super satisfying.

If you need a place with decent internet that won't care if you savor your drink for an hour or three while getting online, Surf Break is one of the best places in Hilo for you.The food is impressively unremarkable - not bad or unpleasant, but not great either. The coffee is OK.

Don't be fooled by the lackluster outward appearance, the espresso was legit. A properly pulled dark Italian roast shot, with a moderate amount of crema. Not bad for $3. Food looked good too, but we only had coffee.

Went in here for a drink and a bite to eat, if this is an example of what it costs to eat here, I will not be moving here, as I would not be moving there any time soon.My bagle and cream cheese plus a drink of ice tea cost $11.00It tasted nice.
